Dawat: By Matt Young

After relocating his business of three years from Beecroft to Bakehouse Quarter, Dawat owner and Chef Sandy is reaping the benefits of community that loves its Indian food.

"The local community is very happy we have opened here because they don't have to go too far to get quality food. They have been very supportive," Sandy said.

The restaurant, which offers North Indian cuisine, is enticing customers to enjoy its speciality curries for Father's Day. Dawat offers good customer service, quality food (freshly prepared) at a reasonable price.

"This particular area does not have many Indian restaurants that sell the quality that we do," Sandy said. Dawat offers customers something for people of all tastes-be that vegetarian, seafood, chicken, beef or lamb. The most popular dishes include chicken cucumber masala, prawn malabari and malai kofta which keeps customers coming back for more.

"The customers are very happy after eating with us. They are spreading the word and coming back again and again. We have people coming back two to three times a week".

Added to the exquisite food is the light and cosy interior which makes Dawat so personable. From the light cream finish on the walls to the stonework feature wall, diners are guaranteed a relaxed experience from the moment they step into the restaurant.

After its first two months of business in the new Bakehouse Quarter location, it seems certain Dawat will continue to go from strength to strength.
